Mrs. Ruth's Blackberry Goat Cheese Crostini

Crispy toasted baguette topped with whipped goat cheese, Mrs. Ruth's Simply Blackberry Jam, fresh thyme, and a drizzle of honey. A 15-minute appetizer that looks like it came from a restaurant.

Crispy toasted baguette, creamy whipped goat cheese, and a generous spoonful of Mrs. Ruth’s Simply Blackberry Jam — finished with fresh thyme and a drizzle of honey. This is the appetizer that looks like it came from a restaurant and takes 15 minutes to make. Put it on your next charcuterie board and watch it disappear.

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 5 minutes | Total Time: 15 minutes | Servings: 12–16 crostini

Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 oz goat cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or whole milk
  • ½ cup Mrs. Ruth’s Simply Blackberry Jam
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Fresh thyme leaves
  • Flaky sea salt and cracked black pepper for finishing
  • Optional: toasted walnuts, thinly sliced prosciutto, or fresh blackberries for topping

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  2. Bake 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp. Watch closely — they go fast. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a small bowl, whip goat cheese with heavy cream using a fork or hand mixer until smooth and spreadable. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Spread a generous layer of whipped goat cheese onto each crostini.
  5. Top with a small spoonful of Simply Blackberry Preserves.
  6. Drizzle lightly with honey. Scatter fresh thyme leaves over the top. Finish with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  7. Arrange on a board and serve immediately, or within 30 minutes of assembling.

Tips & Notes

  • Room temperature goat cheese: Cold goat cheese is hard to spread — pull it out 30 minutes before you start.
  • Make the crostini ahead: Toast the baguette slices up to a day in advance and store in an airtight container. Assemble just before serving.
  • Build a board: Arrange the crostini on a board with fresh blackberries, honeycomb, walnuts, and a few slices of prosciutto for a stunning spread.
  • Swap the cheese: Cream cheese or ricotta work beautifully if goat cheese isn’t your thing.
