Fig Jam & Prosciutto on Flatbread

Mrs. Ruth's Fig Jam & Prosciutto Flatbread

A quick gourmet flatbread recipe featuring Mrs. Ruth's Balsamic Fig Jam, prosciutto, goat cheese, and fresh figs — ready in 20 minutes and perfect for entertaining.

When you want something that looks like it came straight from a wood-fired trattoria but takes less than 20 minutes to pull together, this is the one. The sweetness of Mrs. Ruth's Balsamic Fig Jam meets the salty bite of prosciutto, the creaminess of melted goat cheese, and the freshness of arugula — all on a crispy flatbread base. It's the kind of appetizer that disappears before it hits the table.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4 (as an appetizer)

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made flatbread or naan, about 10 inches
  • 3 tablespoons Mrs. Ruth's Balsamic Fig Jam
  • 4 thin slices prosciutto
  • 2 fresh figs, sliced into quarters
  • 2 oz goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup fresh arugula
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • Fresh thyme sprigs for garnish
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F with a rack in the center position.
  2. Brush the flatbread lightly with olive oil on both sides. Place directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet and bake for 5–6 minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. Remove from the oven and spread an even layer of Mrs. Ruth's Balsamic Fig Jam across the top, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Scatter the crumbled goat cheese over the fig jam. Return to the oven for 3–4 minutes, until the cheese softens and the edges are bubbling.
  5. Remove from the oven and top with prosciutto torn into bite-sized pieces. Arrange the fresh fig quarters around the flatbread.
  6. Toss the arugula with a tiny drizzle of olive oil and pile it in the center. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top, garnish with fresh thyme sprigs, and finish with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  7. Slice into wedges and serve immediately.

Tips & Notes

  • No fresh figs? Substitute sliced pears or apples for a similar sweet crunch.
  • Vegetarian version: Skip the prosciutto and add caramelized onions instead.
  • Make it a meal: Add a simple arugula salad alongside and it works as a light lunch or dinner.
  • Perfect pairing: A dry rosé or sparkling water with citrus complements the sweet-salty flavors beautifully.
