Total Time: 45–50 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 1 package refrigerated puff pastry sheets
- 1 pound precooked sausage links (your choice of flavor and protein)
- 1 (10 oz) jar Mrs. Ruth's Roasted Tomato Chutney, plus more for serving
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¼ cup whole milk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll puff pastry onto a sheet of parchment paper. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise with a pizza cutter to create two long rectangles.
- Place rectangles on the lined baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Spoon Mrs. Ruth's Roasted Tomato Chutney down the center of each rectangle, leaving a ¼-inch border along the edges.
- Position a sausage link in the center of each rectangle on top of the chutney.
- Whisk together the beaten egg and milk to make an egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry with the wash.
- Fold one side of the pastry over the sausage and press firmly to seal. Score the tops with a sharp knife. Brush the tops with remaining egg wash.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
- Remove from oven and serve warm with extra Roasted Tomato Chutney on the side for dipping.
Tips & Notes
- Refrigerated vs. frozen pastry: Refrigerated puff pastry is easiest to work with. If using frozen, thaw to room temperature before starting — cold dough tears and won't seal properly.
- Seal tightly: Press the edges firmly and use the egg wash as glue to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
- Sausage options: Try chicken apple sausage, spicy Italian, or smoked kielbasa for different flavor profiles.
- Make ahead: Assemble and refrigerate unbaked rolls up to 24 hours ahead. Bake straight from the fridge, adding 3–5 minutes to the bake time.
- Storage: Refrigerate leftovers and reheat in a 350°F oven for 8–10 minutes to restore crispiness.
