Mrs. Ruth's Belgian Chocolate Cherry Jam Sundae

Rich and indulgent — warm Mrs. Ruth's Belgian Chocolate Cherry Jam spooned over ice cream with toasted nuts and a pinch of flaky sea salt. A 10-minute dessert that feels truly special.

Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 5 minutes | Total Time: 10 minutes | Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pint good-quality dark chocolate or vanilla ice cream
  • ½ cup Mrs. Ruth's Belgian Chocolate Cherry Jam
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup toasted almonds or hazelnuts, roughly chopped
  • Flaky sea salt for finishing
  • Fresh cherries and fresh mint for garnish (optional)
  • Brownie pieces or chocolate wafer cookies for serving (optional)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, warm Belgian Chocolate Cherry Jam with water, stirring until loose and saucy — about 3–4 minutes. Don't boil; just warm through. (Or microwave in 10-second intervals, stirring between each, until warm and pourable.)
  2. Scoop ice cream into bowls or glasses.
  3. Spoon warm chocolate cherry sauce generously over the top.
  4. Scatter toasted almonds or hazelnuts over the sauce. Finish with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  5. Garnish with fresh cherries and mint if desired. Serve immediately.

Tips & Notes

  • Make it fancy: Layer the ice cream and sauce in a tall glass for a sundae parfait presentation — stunning for entertaining.
  • Upgrade the base: Try it over mascarpone ice cream, cherry sorbet, or espresso gelato for a more indulgent spin.
  • Add a brownie: Place a warm brownie square in the bottom of the bowl before scooping the ice cream for a next-level dessert.
  • Leftover sauce: Store any extra warm sauce in the fridge for up to a week — incredible on waffles, crepes, or stirred into oatmeal the next morning.
